TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE

Under certain conditions, performance of the unit may be adversely affected by factors other than defects. If problems
occur, please review the following list and take remedial action as needed.
If you cannot solve the problem after checking the entire list, please contact your local Olympus representative for
assistance.
Problem
Bulb does not light.
Bulb is blown immediately.
Field of view is dark.
Brightness cannot be varied.
Field of view is obscured or not
evenly illuminated.

Remedy
Set the main switch to " I " (ON).
Plug power cord into the power
outlet.
Connect connectors securely.
Attach a halogen bulb.
Replace bulb.
Set the main switch of the TL4
to " I " (ON).
Replace bulb with a designated
one.
Set LIM again.
Adjust them to proper sizes.
Set the knob to the
position.
Center the condenser.
Adjust correctly.
Disengage the ND filters.
Switch the LIM function OFF.
Use the brightness adjustment
knob of the TL4.
Center the condenser.
Adjust correctly.
Set to the desired click position.
Make sure that the revolving
nosepiece clicks properly into
place.
Swing out the top lens when
using a 4X or higher-power
objective.
Use the objective with the specified
magnification.
Center the condenser.
Open the field iris diaphragm to
an optimum size.
Push the pins of halogen bulb all
the way until the stop position.
