Conclusion
The High Availability and Redundancy features of the Cisco Catalyst 6500 Series provide a very reliable switching and
routing platform. The hardware redundancy provided by dual supervisor engines, dual routing engines, dual switching fabrics,
and a dual power supply help to reduce the potential downtime of a network. Software redundancy features such as the High
Availability feature of Cisco Catalyst OS and the DRM or SRM options for MSFC failover build on this hardware redundancy
to create a very stable operating environment. The combination of these features, in addition to the system performance and
intelligent network services, makes the Cisco Catalyst 6500 Series unparalleled in the industry.
