1 Introduction

Introduction

1.1

Preface

Every industry and every application has its own particular requirements. The

SINAMICS G120X is optimized for pump and fan applications in infrastructure.

With an available power range from 0.75 - 630 kW, the new series can meet any

challenge. And a bonus: A SINAMICS G120X can be operated with any motor, but

is most effective with synchronous reluctance motors from Siemens

The task

The goal is to power a pump motor with the G120X frequency-controlled drive,

which is in turn controlled with SIMATIC PCS 7. Therefore, the G120X is integrated

into the PCS 7 system with standard telegram 20 via PROFINET.

The G120X is commissioned with an IOP-2 (Intelligent) or, alternatively, with a

Smart Access Module.

Solution

For the integration of frequency-controlled drives, Siemens offers a modern

channel block, "FbDrive", which is part of the PCS 7 Advanced Process Library

(APL).

The channel block makes it possible to integrate drives in PCS 7 that support

standard telegram types 1 or 20 and which can be recognized by the driver

generator. The recognition depends on the modeling that the manufacturer uses to

describe the device. Not all possible combinations can be processed by the driver

generator.

Interconnecting the channel block "FbDrive" with the APL function block

"MotSpdCL" provides much of the PCS 7 monitoring and control functionality.

The drives are configured, parameterized and commissioned in the familiar PCS 7

environment.

Delimitation

This configuration guide requires pre-existing general installation and

commissioning of the G120X with the IOP-2 or SAM according to the operating

instructions.

This application does not discuss the Drive ES PCS 7 APL library, available

separately at additional cost, which covers the complete performance range of the

SINAMICS and MICROMASTER drives.

Basic PCS 7 engineering knowledge is assumed.
