If the breaker is to be tripped locally, the tripping spring (64)
is released by p ressing the trip button , (54). In the case of an
electrical command being g iven , the shunt trip coil 52T, (54 1 ),
u nlatches the tripping spring (64 ) .
The tripping s p ring turns the b reaker shalt, (63 ) , via lever,
(63 5), the sequence being similar to that for closing .
Rapid Auto-Reclosing
Since the closing spring is automatically recharged by the
motor operating mechanism when the breaker has closed the
operating mechanism i s capable of an open-close-open d uty
cycle as required for rapid auto-rec losing .
Manual Operation
Electrically operated vac u u m circuit b reakers can be operated
manually if the control s u p p ly should fal l .
Manually Charging the Closing Spring ( Fig . 13)
I n sert the hand-crank, (50), i n hole, (50 . 1 ), and turn it clock
wise u ntil the indicator, ( 55), s hows "CHARGED".
The hand-crank is coup led with the charg ing mechanism via
an overru ning coupling thus, the operator is not exposed to
any risk should the control supply recover d u ring charg i n g .
