PDM
PDM is a web browser-based configuration tool
designed to help you set up, configure, and monitor
the PIX Firewall by use of a graphical user interface
(GUI). PDM is installed on the PIX 501 before it
ships to you.
To use PDM, make sure JavaScript and
Java are enabled in your web browser. Then use
your web browser to create a Secure HTTP
(HTTPS), encrypted and keyed, connection to the
PIX 501.
For best performance, we recommend that
you use Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 (Service
Pack 1) or a later release. Refer to the Cisco PIX
Device Manager Installation Guide for more
information on operating system and web browser environments supported by PDM
To load PDM:
Verify that your PC has basic connectivity to the PIX 501 on one of the inside ports (1 through

4) using the LINK LEDs. When connectivity occurs, the LINK LEDs on both your PC and the
PIX 501 port light up solid green.
Use your web browser to create an HTTPS connection to the inside

IP address of your PIX 501. If you are using the default configuration
and have not changed it, the inside IP address is 192.168.1.1. PDM begins to load.

When prompted for a password, press Enter and PDM completes the loading process.
