RECORDING WITH A CASSETTE DECK
| RECORDING WITH TAPE 1/DAT

if the TAPE 2 MONITOR button is ON, press to turn OFF.
With
the VSX-51
or VSX-4950S,
select SOURCE
with the REC
SELECTOR.
1. Select
the source
you want
to record from with the INPUT
SELECTOR buttons.
* When recording to AM or FM broadcasts, press the desired
STATION CALL button if the station has been preset. If the desired
station has not been preset, tune in the station using Auto, Manual
or Direct Access tuning.
2. Start recording on TAPE 1/DAT cassette deck (or DAT deck).
3. Play the desired program source (record, compact disc, etc.).
* The volume, balance and tone controls have no effect on the
recording.
[VSX-51/VSX-4950S]
When using the REC SELECTOR
if you use the REC SELECTOR, you can record from a different source
to the component selected with the INPUT SELECTOR. For example,
you can listen to a record while recording a CD.
NOTE:
When MULTFROOM
& SOURCE is ON, this does not operate and
"MR-S"' flashes in the display section.
1. Select the source you want to record from (TUNER, CD or PHONO)
with REC SELECTOR button.

* Be sure the TAPE 2 MONITOR button is OFF.
2. Start recording on the TAPE 2 cassette deck.
3. Play the desired program source (record, compact disc, etc.).
[USING VCR 1, VCR 2 FOR AUDIO RECORDING |
The audio signal output from the VCR 1 and VCR 2 AUDIO REC jacks
is the same as that output from the TAPE 1/DAT REC jacks, so you
can record using the same procedure as for recording with TAPE 1/DAT.

When using the REC SELECTOR, do not select the component that you
are using for recording audio on (VCR 1 or VCR 2) with the INPUT
SELECTOR.

[ COPYING TAPES
The following operation concerns TAPE
1 to TAPE 2 copying. TAPE
2 to TAPE
7 copying is not possible.
1. Press the TAPE 1/DAT INPUT SELECTOR button.
* if the TAPE 2 MONITOR button is ON, press to turn it OFF,
2. Load the TAPE 1/DAT cassette deck (or DAT deck) with a tape
to playback.
3. Load the TAPE 2 cassette deck with a tape to record to.
4. Start recording on the TAPE 2 cassette deck.
5. Start playback on the TAPE 1/DAT cassette deck (or DAT deck}.
Tape monitoring
When
recording is performed
on a cassette
deck
equipped
with
monitoring function, the recorded sound can be monitored through the
speaker system by pressing the TAPE 2 MONITOR button to ON.
