●Adjusting the Pointer Position
First loosen the pointer Iock nut and then turn the ad−

the toe of the pedaI reaches the end of its stmke,
or Pointer does not reach the Iower rail end
when the heeI of the pedaI is Iowered fuIIy(Iow・

itwas priorto removal.Remove the headtogether
with the hoop.Be careful not to Iose any of the

as they are greased.

The hoop mustbe re−mounted inthesame pos卜
tion as markedwith ceIlophanetape in step2.In
the proper order,tighten the tuning boIts alter−
nateIy by hand until the head is tensioned sIightIM
At this time,make sure that the head and hoop
arecentered on the ke出e.
Tighten each tuning boIt an additionaI1/40f a
tum using thetimpani key.Repeatat least4times.

●Interval for head replacement
The maximum head Iife normaIly is approximateIy2
years and depends on the frequency and duration of
use,However,the head should always be repIaced be−
forethesoundqualitydeterioratesdramatica"y.lfahead
is Ieh on and used more than two years,the following
problems may occur:
・It may become lmpossibIe to tune the head to the
proper pitch range.
・ItmaybecomeimpossibletobalancethepedaI.
・The main unitmechanismsthemselves maybecome
damaged.
Whenthe head is slightlytensionedand itssu6ace Iooks
wavy or shows dents,it is time to repIace the head with
a new one.
