in the case of model GH2, both wicks in the burner MUST be lit.
With the chimney removed, light the wick/s. When lit, replace the chimney and,
looking through the view slots in the chimney, adjust the flame height to about ¼
inch above the brass dome of the burner.
As the burner warms up, the flame height will increase, so it is important to adjust
the flame to a final height of about ½ inch - after 15 minutes or so.
Avoid the temptation to turn the wicks up too high thinking that a higher
temperature will be the result.....this will not be the case and the extreme result
will be that the wicks will give off excessive fumes and soot.
The appropriate heat will be achieved by setting the wicks as described above.
To extinguish the flames, use the extinguisher lever on the burner by pressing firmly
downwards.
At no time whilst the heater is lit or just extinguished should the chimney or top be
touched as it will be very hot and could inflict severe burns. The heater is designed
to get hot in order to be an efficient from of greenhouse heating.
Before re-lighting the heater, pull the extinguisher lever back up to expose the
wicks.
Always keep the burner perfectly clean, and remove any loose char that gathers
on the burner and wicks. Do not use scissors to trim the wicks.
Maximum efficiency of your heater will be obtained by following these simple
rules.
Always keep the container well supplied with paraffin to ensure that the wicks are
well immersed, otherwise the wicks will be starved of paraffin and the flame will
die down. Before bringing the heater into use at the beginning of a new season,
always clean out and thoroughly dry the container.
