Practical tips for bleeding and maintaining hydraulic brake and clutch systems
It is recommended to use the appropriate master cylinder adapter with the device before starting
your purging work.
Leave the brake cylinder bleed connection open until the fluid becomes clear and air-free before
tightening it.
To maintain a more accurate control of cleanliness, we recommend that you use our recovery
bottle equipped with a flexible hose and a measuring bottle to determine the amount of brake
fluid used (HU 1112). This is to help you determine the volume of brake fluid used.
If the brake system is completely filled, it is recommended to open all vent screws at the same
time. The brake fluid pushes back the air in front of it.
This allows air to flow along the shortest and least resistant path.
It also prevents the mixing of the residual brake fluid still present in the system. When clear, clean
brake fluid begins to flow from the bleed screws, they can be tightened by hand, one at a time,
and then with a wrench.
During the purging process, we recommend that you press the pedal several times to rinse the
master cylinder's primary and secondary chambers. This removes any remaining dirt and air.
Fixed caliper brake systems require more fluid to rinse them completely.
This is why some manufacturers have installed several bleed screws in the bracket. Look for
additional screws and use them alternately to rinse the caliper.
