8. General Information

The DLUX light level sensor is a component of the Dupline bus system and is designed
to convert one analogue light intensity value for transmission via the Dupline bus. It
transmits the light level value on one freely encodable Dupline channel.
The DLUX requires no external power source as it is supplied by the Dupline bus line.
Because of its compact design it can be mounted in unobtrusive locations.

9. Important Notes in Advance

• The installation may only be carried out by an authorised technician
• This device is suitable exclusively for operating through the signal conductors of the
Dupline bus system, which have been installed in accordance with the requirements
for protective low voltage (see VDE 0100, Part 410, or EN 50090-9-1). Other signal
voltages - even if extensive protective measures are taken - may lead to irreparable
damage to the device as well as danger to people. For further guidelines refer to the

• The DLUX has to be mounted so that the bus conductors lead downwards.

10. Coding

With the DHK 1 hand encoder the analogue data channels can be assigned any ad-
dress between A1 and P8 via the covered pin strip of the DLUX.
Check for correct polarity when connecting the DKP 2 coding cable: the "bullet" marking
must point upwards and the inscription "UP" to left side (see connection diagram on
page 8). Incorrect polarity will not permanently damage the device.
The allocation of the channels is as follows:

Functions which are not required should remain uncoded. Encoding the DLUX requires
neither a power supply nor the Dupline signal. Although the coding is permanently re-
tained, it may always be overwritten.

11. Installation

The DLUX should normally be mounted in a position where light from outside illumi-
nates the room to be controlled, e.g. on a wall with windows which are to be blacked out
by shutters. Any shadow thrown on the sensor by eaves or similar protruding structures
results in the sensor's registering higher levels of darkness and, if it is functioning e.g.
as a twilight switch, would lead to the load being switched on too early and off too late.
Optic feedback from light shining on the DLUX must be avoided as far as possible, as
the effect of such light on the sensor when the lighting is switched on may result in a cy-
clic make and break operation.
