To hook up the controller to a laptop or desktop computer:

Apply power to the computer and controller.

Attach Ethernet cable into the Ethernet port on the PC.

Attach the other end of the Ethernet cable into the

LAN port on the front of the controller.

In release 4.1.0 and later, the controller is set to

DHCP by default, connect to the network and the IP

address will display on the LCD screen.

If no DHCP server is available, the LCD will display

the local link address of 169.254.XXX.XXX

Your laptop will need to be on the same subnet as the

IP address displayed on the LCD screen. Contact your

administrator or IT dept. for assistance.

Open your internet browser (Chrome is

recommended)

In the URL field enter the IP address displayed on the

LCD https://169.254.xxx.xxx and press return.

On first login, before the certificate is installed, the

browser may show a security error. Click on "Proceed

to [IP Address] (unsafe)" at the bottom left corner.

Default Username: admin

Default Password: adminpassword

If the connection is successful, the nrgSMART login screen will be

displayed. Use the login information shown above for initial setup.

Note: On initial connection, it may take a few minutes to connect to

the login screen.

WARNING: It is highly recommended to change the default

admin password as soon as you login by using the "User

Settings" page. See full user guide for more information.

NOTE: An SSL certificate is required for secure login capabilities.
