General Safety Guidelines for Transport

The SnapDragon has been crash-tested to allow the user to travel in the powerchair

clamped into a vehicle, the standard which applies is ISO10542-5. To meet this standard a

Docking System must be used which Dragonmobility can supply, at the same time any

upgrades necessary to make older machines suitable for the Docking System will be

incorporated.

However, Dragonmobility takes the view that it is always much safer for a child to travel in

a properly approved child car safety system, such as a child seat or harness attached to a

car seat, as appropriate to the size of the child. These instructions assume therefore that

the SnapDragon will be transported separately from its user.

In order to load the SnapDragon up ramps into the back of an estate car or similar vehicle,

it is necessary to remove the seat. In order to do this, first lift the user into the car seat and

make sure that he is safe. Move the seat and elevator carriage to near the top of its travel.

You will discover for yourself the optimum position, depending on your height and what

you then need to do to the elevator before loading. If you intend to fold the elevator flat

(see below) it is wise to have the elevator carriage at the top, to act as a counterbalance

when folded.
