INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

Chevrolet Malibu 1997 - 2001

HARDWARE KIT

2 – 3/16" Rubber Bonded Fender Washers

2 – #10 x ½" Pan Head Sheet Metal Screws

2 – Expansion Plugs (Square)

3 – Large Bumpons

2 – 3M Anti-Abrasion Film Pads

2 – Black 'E' clips –

INSTALLATION

1. Be sure that the hood is clean and dry inside and out.

2. Open the hood and center the deflector on it to determine where the deflector will mount.

3. Insert the expansion plugs into the corresponding oval slots in the hood.

4. Install the anti-abrasion film pad directly under where the 'E' clips will mount on the hood. Be sure to wrap the pads over

the leading edge of the hood to cover at least ½" underneath.

5. Attach the 'E' clips onto the hood by gently pulling the deflector wings towards the leading edge of the hood until the 'E'

clips slide over and clip onto the hood edge. Be sure they are fully seated.

6. Re-center the deflector over the expansion plugs installed in step 3. Be sure that the holes in the deflector are centered

over the holes in the expansion plugs.

7. Assemble the washers onto the screws (rubber side towards the deflector) and then tighten the screws into the expansion

plugs. See Figure #1. Do not over-tighten.

8. Attach one of the bumpons at the center approx. 3" back from the leading edge of the hood. Then attach one at each end,

directly behind each of the 'E' clips (already attached on the deflector), approx. 2" back from the front edge of the hood.

See Figure #2. Attention: The bumpons must be installed on the hood not on the deflector!!! If the bumpons are

installed on the deflector, they will wear through the paint.

9. On some vehicles it may be necessary to adjust the hood bumpers and/or latch for proper clearance.

Note: Do not pull on the deflector when opening or closing the hood.

CARE INSTRUCTIONS

Clean the deflector with a mild soap and water solution or plastic cleaner only. Do not use chemicals or solvents.

Periodically check to make sure the bumpons are in place and the deflector is secure. Avoid using automatic car

washes. Do not pull on the deflector when opening or closing the hood.
