5. Installing New Battery
Place the new battery inside the control panel box.
1. If the replacement battery has plastic terminal protectors, remove them before connecting the wires to the
battery.
2. Connect the red wire to the red or (+) terminal of the new battery by pushing the connector firmly onto the
terminal.
3. Connect the black wire to the black or (-) terminal of the new battery by pushing the connector firmly onto
the terminal.
6. Check for Low Battery Signal
Go to your alarm keypad and see if it still displays a BAT or SYSTEM LO BAT message. If the message is still displayed, the
new battery may need to recharge for a short time. If the warning message still displays 48 hours after the new battery
is installed, please call Customer Care at 800.238.2727.
7. Test Your System
Once the alarm keypad no longer displays the BAT or SYSTEM LO BAT message, test the security system to make sure
that it is working properly by placing it on test and triggering an alert (by opening a monitored door or window, for
example).
8. Secure the Control Panel Box
Close the control panel door by replacing the screws or locking the door.
9. Take System Off Test
Remove the system from test.
10. Recycle Old Battery
Dispose of your old battery appropriately. To find a recycler in your area, visit www.call2recycle.org/locator. Returning a
lead-acid battery to a recycler listed on this site is free of charge and will ensure that it is being recycled according to all
applicable regulatory requirements.

Battery Safety Tips
1. Proper Handling
