Supplying Power to the Charger
The Nitro Field Charger is powered using the provided
alligator clips connecting the charger to a 12-volt DC power
source, such as a 12V hobby battery (HAN102), a 12-volt
power supply or an automobile battery.
Connect the red (positive) end of the alligator clips to
the red terminal of the DC power source and the black
(negative) end of the alligator clips to the black terminal
of the DC power source. If you choose to power the
charger with an automobile battery, never do so with the
automobile running!
Charging
Charging 6- & 8-Cell Ni-Cd or Ni-MH
Battery Packs
1. When power is initially applied, the charger will beep and
the LED will flash once.
2. Connect the appropriate charge lead to the corresponding
charge jack with respect to polarity.
3. Connect the battery pack to the charger, and the charger
will beep again. The LED will repeatedly blink until you
begin the charging process.
4. Select either a 1, 2, or 4 amp charge rate based on the
battery' s capacity rating. See "Charge Times" chart on
Page 3.
5. Push the Start button to begin the charging process. The
LED will be solid red during the charging process.
6. Once the battery has peaked, the LED will flash, and the
beeper will sound for 30 seconds. If the battery is left
connected after 30 seconds, the LED will continue to
flash, and the beeper will sound approximately every
90 seconds.
When the battery has peaked, the Nitro Field Charger will
automatically transition to Advanced Trickle Charge.
Charging 4- & 5-Cell Ni-Cd or Ni-MH
