Spark Arrestor

Engines are equipped with a spark arrestor for

operational and environmental safety.

Every 100 hours of operation, remove and clean or

replace the spark arrestor following the instructions

below.

Hot Parts can cause severe burns.

Do not touch engine while operating or

just after stopping.

1. Remove the securing hardware and the spark

arrestor. See Figure 24.

2. Clean the carbon deposits out of the screen using a

wire brush.

3. Check the spark arrestor, replace if damaged.

4. Reinstall the spark arrestor, securing with the

hardware previously removed.

To ensure proper cooling, make sure the debris screen,

cooling fins, and other external surfaces of the engine

are kept clean at all times. Check daily.

Every 100 hours of operation (more often under

extremely dusty, dirty conditions), remove the blower

housing and other cooling shrouds. Clean the cooling

fins and external surfaces as necessary. Make sure the

cooling shrouds are reinstalled.

NOTE: Operating the engine with a blocked debris

screen, dirty or plugged cooling fins, and/or

cooling shrouds removed, will cause engine

damage due to overheating.
