Product Migration Options
The recommended replacement for the Cisco Catalyst 4000 Series Layer 3 Services Module is the Cisco Catalyst 4500
Supervisor Engine IV. In cases where the Catalyst 4000 Series Layer 3 Services Module is deployed in conjunction
with the Catalyst 4000 Supervisor Engine II in a Catalyst 4006, 4503, or 4506 chassis, a supervisor swap-out is
necessary. However, if the Catalyst 4000 Series Layer 3 Services Module is deployed in conjunction with a Catalyst
4000 Supervisor Engine I in a Catalyst 4003 chassis, a supervisor engine, chassis, and power supply upgrade to the
Catalyst 4503 chassis will be necessary (the Catalyst 4500 Supervisor Engine IV cannot be deployed in a Catalyst
