Commissioning
Few simple steps for installation of
the automatic power factor correction
capacitors 4RY21 ... / ... are 4RY22:
• Connecting terminals of the
disconnecting switch to the net.
• Cabling current signal from CT to the
terminals MS1 and MS2. Assembled
upstream of the phase L1, the signal is
not included in the equipment.
• Before commissioning, checking the
proper condition and tightness of all
terminals.
Repeat the procedure at regular intervals.
• In case of capacitors are inserted
manually, the operation could be repeat
only after capacitors discharge.
Basic settings of the controller

All settings listed below are detailed
in the user manual of the capacitor
controlling unit.
• The controller is set as default
to a inductive value of 0.94. In most
cases, this setting is correct.
Customizing is possible with controller
in "Automatic Mode" (More information:
manual page 7 – paragraph 5.1.3)
• Setting the CT ratio. This ratio is
obtained by dividing CT primary and CT
secondary (manual page 7 – paragraph
5.1.2)
• Setting the correct value in Kvar
of first battery consulting technical
documentation (manual page 7 –
paragraph 5.1.2).
Manual operation
• The controller PFR96 could be set
for manual operation (MAN notice
highlighted in the display).
During this operation, the controller
executes standard measures, controls
and protections, but it doesn't operate
independently on batteries to reach the
cos ϕ target.
The batteries can be inserted and
switched off manually, using and
buttons. Pressing button, the control
starts from the first battery until the last
one.
During manual insertion of batteries, the
PFR96 is able to handle time of discharge.
Therefore, it is possible that the controller
doesn't insert a battery after pressing the
button.
However, if it is necessary waiting until
the capacitor discharge, the battery
symbol will flash for a few seconds.

button pressing to implement insertion.
Automation operation
• The main activity of PFR96 is regulation
as cos ϕ maintenance.
Automatic operation is indicated AUT in
the display.
Maintenance
Intervals inside the equipment must avoid
with presence of voltage.
Periodically, checking dust or debris
absence. They may limit the air flow in
the frame with the consequent increasing
of internal temperature and damaging of
capacitors.
