Using the KX with a DAW other than Cubase

MIDI ports on the KX

The KX provides the three MIDI ports and each of them can transmit/receive MIDI messages by using a

USB cable as described below:

USB MIDI Port 1 (KX-1): This port is used for communication of the performance data like note on/off

USB MIDI Port 2 (KX-2): This port is used for communication of data generated by controlling the

USB MIDI Port 3 (KX-3): This port is used for communication of data generated by controlling the KX

NOTE

· When the MIDI Select parameter is set to "MIDI" (page 34) resulting the USB TO HOST connector

becomes inactive, the data communication described above cannot be performed.

· When using the DAW software other than Cubase, perform the MIDI setup manually on the DAW

software so that the MIDI Port1 can handle the performance data like note on/off and the MIDI

Port2 can handle the data generated by controlling the Transport function.

· When using the DAW software other than Cubase, the MIDI Port2 cannot handle the data

generated by controlling the CONTROL knobs.

· When using a Macintosh computer, the MIDI Port is indicated with the name specified on the

"Audio MIDI Setup" window.
