Stage 5: Unleashed Supervision Stage

Train your dog to stay within the fence boundary without a leash.
1. Be sure your pet has mastered all stages before starting the Unleashed
Supervision Stage.
2. Keeping the same Fence Settings as the Stimulation Cue Stage and
Distraction Stage, have your dog follow you towards the boundary without
a leash. Keep your dog close enough to where you can reach his collar and
lead him back into the Safe Zone if he passes the boundary.
3. If your dog passes the boundary point, repeat Stimulation Cue Stage and
Distraction Stage.
4. If your dog does not pass the boundary off-leash, praise him (treats
optional).
5. Slowly begin offering more distance between you and your dog.
6. Introduce distractions off leash
WARNING
- When leading your dog back in without a leash, make sure
to take the collar unit off and power the unit OFF to prevent any accidental
stimulation.
7. Increase training session times to up to 1 hour in this stage, as much of the
training will be allowing your dog to be off leash at a distance.
8. Train in the Unleashed Supervision Stage until your dog consistently stays
within the Safe Zone off-leash, with controlled distractions introduced. It
generally takes 1-7 consecutive days of training, at least 3 times a day to
complete the Unleashed Supervision Stage. It may take longer to train in
this stage because distractions can be strong stimulants for dogs and your
dog will have to learn the boundary while excited.
