GENERAL INFORMATION

POST-OPERATIVE USE

For immediate post-operative use, a sterile dressing should be placed between the post-operative dressing and the cooling pad. This sterile dressing should be

placed over the surgical dressing in the operating or recovery room. If an orthopedic support/brace is being used, this should be placed over the cooling pad. The pad

may be left on the body, disconnected from the hose leading to the cooler. A check valve at the end of the hose prevents leaking of trapped water in the pad.

NON-OPERATIVE USE

The cooling pad may be placed directly over the affected area. If there are any open wounds, it is recommended these be covered with a sterile dressing. A com-

pression bandage or wrap may be used to hold the pad in place as well as provide light compression to the area. Caution should be taken not to restrict blood flow or

circulation within the cooling pad.

PAD PLACEMENT

The closer the pad is to the treatment site, the greater the effect of cold therapy. It is recommended to surround the treatment area or joint with the cooling pad. If a

large amount of dressing is covering the area, application of cold will not be as effective. Clothing may also act as a barrier to cold penetration.

PROLONGED STORAGE

When the unit will not be in use for any extended period, it is recommended to drain all remaining water from the cooling pad. To do this, simply hold the pad so that

the hose is hanging downward and press in the buttons at the end of the hose allowing all water to drain out of the pad.

days from the date of sale.
