4-1 Three Operation Modes

The ARC-53M has the following three operation modes:
• PS (Preset) Mode: For recalling presets. When in this mode, the PS LED above the MODE switch illuminates.
• DIR (Direct) Mode: In this mode each effect loop can be turned on/off by using the corresponding footswitch. When in this mode,
the DIR LED above the MODE switch illuminates.
• Edit Mode: Used when making detailed setup of the ARC-53M. Hold down the MODE switch for three seconds to put the ARC-
53M in Edit mode.

4-2 Preset Number Indication

The ARC-53M uses a special character to indicate PS10 (preset number 10). When PS10 is recalled, the ones
place of the Display indicates the character as shown in the figure shown right.

4-3 How to Edit Presets

Presets in the ARC-53M can be edited very easily with the control panel only. To store a setting, press the STORE switch. Your changes are
not saved if you recall another preset without pressing the STORE switch.

Use the INC/+, DEC/-, and PS/L switches to recall the bank and preset to be set.
Press the DISP MODE switch to select "LOOP/CTL".
Press the Select Switch to choose the control terminal (C1–C3) to be used.
Press the STORE switch to store your selection.

Use the INC/+, DEC/–, and PS/L switches to recall the bank and preset to be set.
Press the DISP MODE switch to select "MIDI PC & CC#".
Press the Select Switch to choose the CSW (control switch) to be used.
Press the STORE switch to store your selection.
NOTE: Control change numbers to be assigned to the Select Switches 1–4 are set in Edit mode "MIDI-CSW CC#" (refer to p.11).

BASIC OPERATION

Use the INC/+, DEC/–, and PS/L switches to recall the bank and preset to be set.
Press the DISP MODE switch to select "LOOP/CTL".
Press the STORE switch to store your selection.
Press the Select Switch to
choose the effect loop (L1–L5)
to be used.
