Safety Instructions

Please read the operating instructions carefully and pay particular attention to
the safety instructions. We do not assume liability for injuries/material dam-
ages resulting from failure to observe the safety instructions and the informa-
tion in these operating instructions regarding the proper handling of the prod-
uct. Furthermore, in such cases, the warranty/guarantee will be null and void.
a) General
• The product is not a toy. Keep out of the reach of children and pets.
• Do not leave packing materials unattended. It may become a dangerous plaything
for children.
• Protect the product from extreme temperatures, direct sunlight, strong vibrations,
high humidity, moisture, combustible gases, vapours and solvents.
• Never expose the product to mechanical stress.
• It is the user's responsibility to evaluate the measurement results of this device.
We do not guarantee the accuracy of the measurement results. Nor do we assume
liability for these. Under no circumstances do we assume liability for damages
caused by the use of the measurement results.
• The measurement device is not suitable for measurement of metals or electricity-
conductive materials.
• If safe operation is no longer possible, take the device out of service and secure
it against unintended use. Safe operation is no longer possible, if the product:
- has visible damage,
- no longer functions properly,
- has been stored under adverse ambient conditions for an extended period of
time or
- has been exposed to considerable strain during transport.
• Please handle the product carefully. The product can be damaged if crushed,
struck or dropped, even from a low height.
• If you have doubts about how the product should be operated or how to safely
connect it, consult a qualified technician.
• Maintenance, adjustment and repair work may be carried out only by an expert or
a specialist workshop.
• If you have any questions that are not answered in these operating instructions,
please contact our technical customer service or other professionals.
b) Batteries/rechargeable batteries
• Make sure that the polarity is correct when inserting the battery/rechargeable bat-
tery.
• Remove the battery/rechargeable battery if you are not going to use the device for
a while, to prevent damage from leaking. Leaking or damaged batteries/recharge-
able batteries can cause acid burns upon contact with the skin. Thus, you should
wear protective gloves when handling damaged batteries/rechargeable batteries.
• Keep the battery/rechargeable battery out of the reach of children. Do not leave
batteries lying around, as they may be swallowed by children or pets.
• Do not dismantle battery/rechargeable battery, do not short-circuit them and do
not throw them into fire. Never charge conventional, non-rechargeable batteries.
There is a danger of explosion!

General Instruction For The Measurement Process
• The humidity level shown is an average value which was determined by the humidity on the
external surface as well as inside the material. In case there is a visible surface humidity or
water, wipe it off and let the surface dry for a few minutes before you begin the measurement.
• Hold the measurement securely only in the lower area (with the rubber gripping surface) to
avoid influences from your hand (water content in the body!).
• The measurement device is not suitable for measurement of metals or electricity-conductive
materials. When there is metal in the measurement range of the humidity sensor (for e.g.,
nails, screws. cables, tubes, etc.), the measurement values increase significantly.
• When the ballhead is placed in a room corner, it leads to strong deviation of the measurement
values because there are two or three surfaces in the measurement range.
Therefore, always take care that the measurement process is run only on one surface and
maintain sufficient distance from other surfaces/objects (we recommend at least 10 cm).
• Place the ballhead of the humidity sensor on the flattest possible surface. Rough surfaces
cause imprecise measurement results.
• The signal of the humidity sensor penetrates depending on the material and thickness up to
102 mm (measurement depth).
• The ballhead of the humidity sensor or the measurement device must be kept at a right angle
to the surface to be measured. The measurement device must therefore be kept perpendicu-
lar to the surface.
If the measurement device is slanting, there are strong deviations of the measurement value.
• The thickness of the measured material plays an important role in the measurement result.
The measurement value increases with the respective thickness of the material (for e.g.,
humidity in concrete or in wood).
• An important application area for this device is comparative measurement, in which the
measurement value is compared with a reference value. The reference value is set by the
measurement of a similar or identical material in a dry area.
When the measurements that follow are significantly higher than the reference value, it can
be concluded that the measurement area is humid.
This procedure is highly suitable for assessing damages caused by water, locating leaking
spots and areas with high humidity.
