1. SAFETY

Read the operator's manual carefully before use and
keep for future reference.
If not used properly this product can be dangerous.
The warnings and safety instructions must be fol-
lowed to ensure reasonable safety and efficiency
in using this product. The operator is responsible
for following the warnings and instructions in this
manual and on the product. Never use the product
unless the guards provided by the manufacturer
are in the correct position.

General safety warnings for the Grass Shear:

instructions.

in electric shock, fire and / or serious injury.

Intended use for the Grass Shear:
The GARDENA Grass Shears are suitable for cutting lawn
edges, smaller grass areas and for precise shaping of
shrubs, in particular boxwood, for the private home or
hobby garden.
WARNING! Risk of injury! The product must not be
used for chopping up material for composting pur-
poses.
Intended use for the Shrub Shear:
The GARDENA Shrub Shear is intended for cutting individ-
ual bushes, shrubs and climbing plants in private domestic
and hobby gardens.
WARNING! Risk of injury! The product must not be
used for cutting lawns / lawn edges or for chopping
up material for composting purposes.
Safe operation practices
1) Training
a) Read the instructions carefully. Be familiar with the
controls and the correct use of the machine.
b) Never allow children or people unfamiliar with these
instructions to use the machine. Local regulations can
restrict the age of the operator.
c) Keep in mind that the operator or user is responsible
for accidents or hazards occurring to other people or
their property.
2) Preparation
a) Before use, check the supply and extension cord for
signs of damage or aging. If the cord becomes dam-
aged during use, disconnect the cord from the supply
immediately. DO NOT TOUCH THE CORD BEFORE
DISCONNECTING THE SUPPLY. Do not use the
machine if the cord is damaged or worn.
b) Before use, always visually inspect the machine for
damaged, missing or misplaced guards or shields.
c) Never operate the machine while people, especially
children, or pets are nearby.
3) Operation
a) Keep supply and extension cords away from cutting
means.
b) Wear eye protection and stout shoes at all times while
operating the machine.
c) Avoid using the machine in bad weather conditions
especially when there is a risk of lightning.
d) Use the machine only in daylight or good artificial light.
e) Never operate the machine with damaged guards or
shields or without guards or shields in place.
f) Switch on the motor only when the hands and feet are
away from the cutting means.
