one side of the flapper to the
other.
Valve leaks at flange joint.
Valve does not fully close.

Possible Cause
Cover gasket is damaged.
Foreign matter caught between
flapper and seat.
Flapper is worn or damaged.
Loose flange bolting.
Blown flange gasket.
Miss-alignment or damage to
field piping and supports.
Damaged flange face/s or
improper flange connections.
Object is wedged between seat
and disc.

Corrective Action
Replace cover gasket.
Fully open valve to remove
object.
Replace flapper.
Tighten flange bolting.
Replace flange gasket.
Adjust miss-alignment or repair
piping or supports.
Repair flange, replace valve
body or adjust flange
connections.

object.
