SYMPTOM
After being fed from the paper tray, the copy paper is not transported properly, which
causes an error in the paper registration timing. In some cases, the leading edge of the
copy paper jams in the area of the middle driven rollers (P/N A1842585).
When the paper is fed from the manual feed table, there are no problems.
CAUSE
1) If the copier is not on a flat and level surface, the base unit of the copier deforms
(warps) and the pressure between the transport roller (P/N A1842580) and the two
middle driven rollers (P/N A1842585) decreases. This causes the paper transportability
to decrease.
2) The Production Division discovered that even if the copier is installed on a flat and level
surface, some base units are slightly warped to begin with when they are released from
the factory.
SOLUTION
For the production line, a new inspection process has been added to ensure that copiers
released from the factory do not contain warped base units.
In terms of action in the field, a new spring with stronger tension has been registered as a
service part. This is designed to improve paper transportability.
Please replace the springs with this new type whenever the above symptom occurs in the
field:

Note:
The new spring may not be effective under the following conditions:
A. The copier is not on a flat and level surface. If this is the case, move the copier to a
flat and level surface.
B. The lock release lever is damaged. Solution: Replace the lever.
C. The toner bottle has not been set properly. Sometimes the inner cap from the previous
bottle remains in the bottle case. Solution: Remove the cap from the previous bottle.
