Advanced sound settings
This chapter coversadvanced settingsto further
optimizethe sound of your system.
LFE attenuator
The LFE (lowfrequencyeffects)chmanelcarries ultra
lowbass sound to add weight to effectsin DolbyDigital
and DTSsoundtracks.This channel can overloadthe
subwooferresulting in dis)ortion.Use)he LFEat)enua-
tot setting to reduce the signal fedto the subwoofee

Press SYSTEM SETUP.
Press the 41 or I_ button
until you see LFE
in the display.
Use the • and • buttons to set the
amount of signal reduction.
There are threc settings:
• LFEATT O - default setting (no sigual reduction)
• LFEATT10 - lhe LFEchmmel signal levelis
reduced1oavoid distortion
• LFEOFF - the LFEchaunel is switched off
completely.
This may be useful late at
night,
for
exmnple.

Dynamic Range Control
The dynmnic range of a source is lhe differencebetween
the quietest aud lhe loudest sounds. The dynmnic range
of DolbyDigital soundtracks cau be veU great.This
makes them exciting,but it also nmm_sthat when you
turn the volume down you cau easily losequiet dialog.
Switchon DynmnicRange Control to even out the
soundtrack volume.
• Youcan't chaugelhissetlingiftheRecordmodeis
on (seepage25).
Press SYSTEM
SETUP.
Press the 41 or I_ button until you see
D.R.C. in the display.
Use
the •
and
• buttons to select a
dynamic range setting.
D.R.C. OFF

• D.R.C. LOW- the dynmnic rm_geis reducedby a
small anmunt.

MID-midsetting
• D.R.C. HIGH - lhe dynamic range is R, d ucedbya
large _lount (good for listening at veU lowvolume).
