11. Troubleshooting
Problem
I cannot turn on the scanner.
Pictures cannot be saved after I
have scanned them.
My computer does not recognize the
scanner when I connect it.
My scanner generates blurry
images.
ERROR is displayed when scanning
a document.
I cannot open or view the scans I
have downloaded from the
IRIScan™ Book 5 Wifi web page.
All the scanner buttons are blocked. Multi-page PDF mode
I cannot connect to the
IRIScanBook-f2XXX network and
transfer documents to my
computer/tablet via Wifi.

Cause
Low battery power.
There is no microSD
card in the card slot.
The microSD card is
full.
Connection failure.
The scanner lens is
probably dirty.
You are sliding the
scanner too quickly
over your documents.
The scans are
downloaded as .tar
files.
You have changed the
default password
(12345678).
Solution
Connect the scanner to a PC.
Charge the scanner with an external power
adapter.
Insert a microSD card.
Move the images from the microSD card to
your computer to clear storage space on the
card.
To format the card and delete its content:
1. Press the Scan/Power/Enter button
for 2 seconds to power on the scanner.
2. Press the Menu button.
3. Go to the 2/3 option group and select
the SD formatting
delete the content of the microSD
card.
Make sure both ends of the USB cable are
connected securely.
Use only the provided micro USB cable.
Clean the lens with a soft dry cloth.
Press the Scan/Power/Enter button to scan
your document again, steadily and slowly.
Unzip the .tar in an application like 7-zip.
Press the JPG/PDF/Multi-PDF/Down
button until JPG or PDF mode is displayed.
Reset your password:
1. Press the Scan/Power/Enter button
for 2 seconds to power on the scanner.
2. Press the Wifi button and wait until
the red Wifi indicator turns green.
3. Press the Wifi button again for about
10 seconds.
4. The red Wifi indicator will flash for
about 1 minute and it will, then, turn
green.
The Wifi password has been successfully reset
to factory settings (password: 12345678).
