7. Secure the housing using four screws (type KTD= screws M4; type SKTD= screws
M6).
8. Put the carbon brushes back into place. Make sure they are positioned flush.
9. Twist on again the plastic caps protecting the carbon brushes.
• Note: Observe the tightening torques of the mounting screws.
• Important! All screws need to be secured!

Electrical connection

6.1. Safety instructions for electrical connection
• Warning! Observe the additional safety precautions in chapter 4.
• Warning! Danger of electric shock!
Make sure tachogenerator is not live for the time of electrical commissio-
ning!
Switch off power supply of any equipment involved!
Ensure proper grounding!!
6.2. Electrical commissioning
• Connect protective earthing conductor to terminal M4-PE (ground).
• Remove terminal box cover (with the "Thalheim" label).
• Use a mating cable to connect terminal box at Pg7.
• Assign the terminals.
• A1 = + ; A2 = - at cw rotation
• Only use cables
recommended by Baumer.
• Close terminal box cover.
7. Maintenance, repair & disposal
• Any repair work or opening of the tachogenerator by the manufacturer only.
Exception: Carbon brush exchange.
• Dispose of all integrated components in compliance with the country-specific
provisions.
7.1. Exchanging the carbon brushes
• The carbon brushes need to be exchanged when being down to the minimum
length of 5.5 mm. Further-more, the commutator compartment needs to be dry-
cleaned by compressed air to maintain proper functionality.
Important! Make sure respiratory protection against particulate matter is present.
Wear protective goggles.
• Remove the plastic caps at the side of the housing and take out the carbon
brushes. Exchange them and make sure they are positioned flush. Carbon brushes
are available as an accessory.
