advisable to free-wheel it on a long or steep slope. If the attendant has any concern about
whether he or she can control the SnapDragon in free wheel mode, the user should not
remain in the SnapDragon while it is being pushed.
To reconnect the drive, twist the mushroom knobs to the "catch" position and allow the
SnapDragon to gently roll forward or backward a few inches. You will hear two clicks as the
drives reconnect, and the wheels will once again be controllable by the joystick or
attendant controls.
Wheels and Tyres
The tyres on a SnapDragon are 62-203 (12½" × 2¼") non marking pneumatic covers fitted
with an inner tube. As supplied they contain a puncture proofing compound which is very
reliable and will withstand damage from pins, nails and even small glass cuts.
The valve is a standard Schraeder (Car) type and the tyres should be maintained at a
pressure of 35 PSI (2·4 BAR) for best performance (this is written on the wall of the tyre).
If the tyre needs replacing it is best done with the wheel removed. This is easily done by
supporting the SnapDragon using the Jack-Leg located under the Gear-Box on the inside of
the wheel; flip it down from its spring catch and lift the SnapDragon on to it, rolling it
forward to lock it in place. Now undo the three nuts holding the wheel with a 17mm
spanner. Draw the wheel off taking care of the "mushroom knob" as you do so. The tyre
may now be replaced exactly as a bicycle tyre would be.
To refit the wheel place it over the three studs on the gearbox, fitting the "mushroom
knob" through its hole and replace the wheel-nuts. These should be done up firmly. Push
the SnapDragon forwards to release the Jack-Leg, and fold the leg back against the
undersideof the Gear-Box.
After extremely muddy walks it is even possible to remove the wheels and wash them
under a running tap or shower (since they are waterproof). This can be quicker than trying
to brush off dirt.

To be able to push the SnapDragon, you can
disconnect the motor-gearbox drive to the
wheels. To do this, make sure that the
SnapDragon is on a flat surface for safety.
Then pull each of the black "mushroom"
knobs (one on each wheel) and twist them
a quarter turn to catch in the "out" position
(see Fig:9). This allows the SnapDragon to
be pushed. The top of the elevator frame
acts as a convenient push handle.
Remember that the SnapDragon has no
electronic brakes in this condition and is a
heavy piece of equipment. It is is not
