RECIPES
CHICKEN ADOBO
SERVES 4 -5
Ingredients
8-9 chicken thighs
2 cups water
2 cups low sodium soy sauce
1 large onion (cut into rings)
8 garlic cloves (chopped up)
3 bay leaves
Directions

Heat olive oil in saucepan over Medium-High heat. Brown the chicken thighs on both sides.

Remove and set aside.

In the inner pot of the Smart n' Healthy Cooker, combine water, soy sauce, onion, garlic, bay
leaves, sherry wine, black pepper and molasses.

Add the chicken to the sauce. Stir a bit to get the chicken thighs down into the liquid.

Close the lid and set the RELEASE VALVE to the Minimum position and set cooking time for 25
to 35 minutes. (Follow instructions on pages 11-12).

When cooking is complete, cooker will switch to Keep Warm setting.

Lift lid. Remove the bay leaves. Serve chicken and sauce over jasmine rice.
SPARE RIBS
SERVES 6 -8
Ingredients
1 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup soy sauce
1/2 teaspoon paprika
1 tablespoon vinegar
1/4 teaspoon cayenne
1 teaspoon garlic powder
2 lbs pork ribs
1 cup of chicken/beef stock
Directions

Prepare sauce ingredients inside inner pot.

Divide ribs up evenly so it fits into the inner pot.

Coat each piece thoroughly with the sauce.

Add 1 cup of stock to the inner pot.

Place inner pot into Smart n' Healthy Cooker.

Close the lid and set the RELEASE VALVE to the Minimum position and set the Meat/Fish
function for 20 minutes. (Follow instructions on pages 10-11).

When cooking is complete, cooker will switch to Keep Warm setting. Serve immediately.
2 tablespoons cooking sherry
1 teaspoon ground black pepper
3 tablespoons molasses
1 tablespoon olive oil
Jasmine rice – follow directions to cook rice

SOUTH OF THE BORDER SPICY CHILI
SERVES 6
Chili is a nutritionally sound and complete meal. You can make it more or less fiery by adjusting the
amount of chili powder used.
2 tablespoons olive oil
2 medium onions, chopped
3 garlic cloves, minced
1 1/2 lb ground beef
2 teaspoons ground cumin
2 tablespoons chili powder, or to taste
1 1/2 teaspoons oregano
Garnishes
Grated cheddar or Monterey Jack cheese
Finely chopped onion
Shredded lettuce
Directions
:

Heat oil in saucepan over Medium-High heat. Add the onion and garlic and sauté until the onion
is translucent.

Add the ground beef and cook until it is browned. (Or skip this step and cook the meat directly
in the pot using the Smart n' Healthy Cooker.

Transfer the ingredients to the inner pot. Mix in the cumin, chili powder, oregano, bay leaf,
celery seed, salt and flour. Stir in the crushed tomato and beef stock. Add beans.

Place inner pot into the cooker.

Close the lid, set the RELEASE VALVE to the Minimum position. Set the cooking time to 60
minutes by following the instructions on pages 11-12.

When cooking is complete, cooker will switch to Keep Warm setting.

Vegetables should be tender. Serve immediately.

Serve in bowls, add garnishes separately.
TRADITIONAL MEAT LOAF
SERVES 4
Ingredients
1 1/2 lb mixture of chopped or ground lean beef, pork and veal
1 teaspoon salt
Freshly ground pepper
2 slices bread, soaked in water and squeezed dry
2 tablespoons parsley
1 medium onion, minced 1 garlic clove
1 egg
2 tablespoons chicken stock
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
1 bay leaf
2 teaspoons celery seed
Salt to taste
1 tablespoon flour
1 1/2 cups crushed tomato
1 cup beef stock
1 1/2 cups cooked pinto or red kidney beans
