Jacking a vehicle
1. Park the vehicle in gear and put the handbrake on. Vehicles with automatic gear
boxes should be put into P (Park) and the handbrake put on.
2. Close the release valve by twisting
the handle clockwise as far as it will go.
3. Place the jack under the vehicle so that
the saddle of the jack is centred under
one of the vehicle's lift points (consult
the vehicle's handbook for guidance).
6. Pump the handle until the vehicle is raised to a height which enables one or more
axle stands to be positioned under suitable strong points on the vehicle (consult
the vehicle's handbook for guidance). Two people might be needed to pump up
the jack if it is fully laden to its maximum load.
7. Carefully open the the release valve and lower the vehicle onto the axle stands by
slowly twisting the handle anticlockwise.

Care and maintenance

Clean the jack using a lightly moistened cloth. Only use mild cleaning agents,
never solvents or corrosive chemicals.
When storing the jack, always make sure that the jack lifting arm and saddle are
fully lowered.
