Instructions for using the Great Lakes Alginate Mixer
STEP
Lock the bowl into position by placing
1
it in the hub. Grip the bowl with both
hands, press down, and rotate the
bowl one quarter turn clockwise.
STEP
Measure the alginate and water
2
according to the manufacturer's
direction. Place the desired amount
of alginate into the bowl first. Add
the water to the powder and blend
by hand for several seconds until
mixture is moist.
STEP
Next, position the edge of the blade on
3
the inside of the bowl at the highest
point of alginate. Press and hold the
'LO' speed button with thumb, and
place forefinger on top, left center of the
base*. Move the tip of the spatula in a
straight line direction toward the center
of the bowl, then flex the flat side of the
blade against the center and side of the
bowl. Lift the spatula off the side of the
bowl and repeat this same procedure
one more time to ensure water and
alginate are properly mixed.
*If preferred, grip the unit with fingertips on the recessed area under the control panel.
STEP
Stop the unit by releasing thumb
4
from the speed button. Grasp the
bowl with one hand and then clean
the spatula by scraping it against the
inside rim of the bowl to remove any
unmixed powder.
STEP
Now using 'HI' speed, repeat the
5
mixing procedure in Step 3 five
times. Complete mixing requires a
minimum of five strokes. Remember
to maintain the alginate in the lower
half of the bowl during this procedure
and be sure to flex the blade to
obtain the best mix.
Great Lakes recommends using 'LO' speed when mixing stones
STEP
To remove the alginate, place the

the unit.
STEP
Any material left in the bowl may be removed by gently repeating Step 6.
