2. Install the 55223 Spacer onto the rotor.
3. Install .003" (0.08 mm) thick shim into the 55203 Front Bearing Plate.
4. Install the 01825 Bearing into plate and install these onto the rotor.
5. Apply a small amount of Loctite #271 (or equivalent) to the spindle nut threads and install the 55224
Nut and secure it onto the rotor. (Torque to 28 N•m/250 in. lbs.)
6. Use a .001" (0.03 mm) feeler gauge to check clearance between rotor and bearing plate. Clearance
should be .001" to .0015" (0.03 - 0.04 mm). If necessary, adjust clearance by repeating steps 3-5.
Add or remove shims as required.
7. Once the proper clearance is achieved, apply Dynabrade Air Lube P/N 95842 (or equivalent) to the
55204 Vanes (4) and install them.
8. Install the 55201 Cylinder.
9. Use a press tool with a 1.3385" (34 mm) outside diameter and the 96232 Arbor Press (#2) to install
the 02552 Bearing into 55202 Rear Bearing Plate. Use a press tool with an outside diameter of .8070"
(20.50 mm) to install the bearing/plate onto the rotor. Make sure that the 01673 Pin and air inlet
opening line-up with the hole in the rear bearing plate and air inlet opening in the plate and cylinder.
IMPORTANT: Press the bearing/plate onto the rotor until the plate just touches the cylinder. When
this is done correctly, a snug fit is created between the bearing plates and the cylinder.
10. Secure the 55224 Nut in a vise with aluminum or bronze Jaws. Carefully install the governor
assembly. LEFT HAND THREAD (Torque to 25 N•m/221in. lbs.)
11. Install the motor assembly into the housing. Make sure the 01673 Pin fits into the line-up hole.
12. Install the 95881 O-Ring and the 55231 Guard Assembly.
13. Secure these with the 50508 Screws (4) and 95757 Washers (4). (Torque to 8.0 N•m/70 in. - lbs.)
14. To check the adjustment of the motor, secure the housing in the vise so that the spindle is pointing
up. Pull upwards on the spindle, applying ~10 -12 lbs. of force. While applying force, turn the spindle
back and forth. The rotor should turn freely without any rub. If a rub is felt, then increase load or
remove shim. Also, push downwards on the spindle, applying ~10 -12 lbs. of force. The rotor should
turn freely without any rub. If a rub is felt, then decrease load or add a shim.
15. IMPORTANT: Check spindle speed of the grinder with 90 PSIG (6.2 Bar) at the tool air inlet
WITHOUT any wheel flanging or grinding accessory mounted on the tool. – In accordance with EN
792 the no-load speed may not exceed the rated speed by more than 10%.
16. Use the 95304 Open-End Wrench (24 mm) to hold the 55224 Nut stationary. Install the 55225 Cup
Wheel Backup Flange and the abrasive wheel. Use a 5/32" hex key to secure the 55239 Retaining
Washer and the 95323 Screw.
