BladeCare
WARNING:
Whenremovingthecuttingbladefor
sharpeningorreplacement,protectyourhandswith
apairofheavyglovesoruseaheavyragtoholdthe blade.
Periodicallyinspectthebladeadapterforcracks,especiallyifyou
strikeaforeignobject.Replace
belowforbladeservice.
1.
Disconnectsparkplugbootfromsparkplug.Turnmower
onitssidemakingsurethattheairfilterandthecarburetor
arefacingup.
2.
Removethebolt andthebladebellsupportwhichholdthe
bladeandthebladeadaptertotheenginecrankshaft.See
Figure7-1.

Removebladefromtheadapterfortestingbalance.
Balancethebladeonaroundshaftscrewdrivertocheck.
Removemetalfromtheheavysideuntil it balancesevenly.

grind.Grindeachcuttingedgeequallytokeeptheblade
balanced.

Lubricatetheenginecrankshaftandtheinnersurfaceof
thebladeadapterwith lightoil.Slidethebladeadapter
ontotheenginecrankshaft.Placethebladeontheadapter
suchthatthesideoftheblademarked"Bottom"(orwith
partnumber)facesthegroundwhenthemowerisinthe
operatingposition.Makesurethatthebladeisalignedand
seatedonthebladeadapterflanges.

Placebladebellsupportontheblade.Alignnotchesonthe
bladebellsupportwith smallholesinblade.
7.
Replace hexbolt andtightenhexbolt totorque:450in.lbs.
min.,600in.lbs.max.
Toensuresafeoperationofyourmower,periodicallycheckthe
bladebolt forcorrecttorque.
Off-SeasonStorage
Thefollowingstepsshouldbetakentoprepareyourlawnmower
forstorage.
Cleanandlubricatemower thoroughlyasdescribedinthe
lubricationinstructions.
Donotuseapressurewasherorgardenhosetocleanyour unit.
Coatmower'scuttingbladewith chassisgreasetoprevent
rusting.
Refertoenginemanualforcorrectenginestorage
instructions.
Storemowerinadry,cleanarea.Donotstorenextto
corrosivematerials,suchasfertilizer.
Whenstoringanytypeofpowerequipmentinapoorly
ventilatedormetalstorageshed,careshouldbetakento
rust-prooftheequipment.Usingalight oilorsilicone,coatthe
equipment,especiallycablesandallmovingpartsofyourlawn
mower beforestorage.
