Place a suitably sized piece of strong,
semi-transparent plastic, such as a
storage box lid, on top of the display
base, and put your model on top of it.
Align the IR sensor in the oil pan with the
IR receiver in the base.

Turn the ignition key to the right, until it
is horizontal, aligned with the red dot on
the lock cylinder.

Note the position of the hole
Insert the large ignition key into the
keyhole in the display base control
panel, in the orientation shown.

Insert the smaller ignition key into the
ignition switch. Make sure you insert it
the right way round.
Checking the lights and sounds
The interactive functions of
the model will be tested over
the following pages. If any of
them do not work, refer to the
assembly steps to check the
connections.
The headlight
Move the right-hand slider on the
display base to the 'L' position. The
headlight should shine dimly. Then
return the slider to the 'off' position.
The instruments
When the right-hand slider is in either the 'L' or 'H' position,
the speedometer and tachometer should light up as well as
the headlight.
If you need to remove a
connector, carefully open
the socket a little with
tweezers before removing
the connector with pliers.
Move the slider to the far end, the 'H'
position. The headlight should now
shine brightly. Then return the slider to
the 'off' position.
The various parts of your
model's lighting (the
headlight, instrument
lights, brake light and
indicators) will only work
when the ignition key
in the display base is in
the red dot position and
the right-hand slider is in
either the 'L' or 'H' position.
