How to Operate Your Food Dehydrator

Your food dehydrator is simple to use and is designed to make the dehydration process simple and

accurate if the instructions are followed. Be sure that you have read the safety tips at the

beginning of this manual before proceeding.

The first time you turn on your food dehydrator you may notice an odor, this is normal. To avoid

odor from being transferred to the food, place one tray covered with lid on the power unit, and

following instructions, allow the unit to run for 20 minutes without food in place until the odor is

gone at 158ºF. This is only necessary the first time you use the dehydrator.

Before you begin preparing your food, wash and dry the trays. You should never immerse the

POWER UNIT in water. Place dehydrator power unit where you intend to use it for the dehydration

process and ensure the electrical cord reaches an outlet in a safe manner.

The dehydrator gives the user full control over the temperature in a range of 104ºF to 158ºF as

well as how long the unit will run using its integral digital timer. Use lower temperatures and

shorter times for thinner or smaller pieces of food or for smaller loads of food (such as when

drying only a few trays). Use higher temperatures and longer times for thicker foods and larger

loads. The temperature control can also be used to turn down the temperature as the food is

near the end of its drying cycle, making it easier to control the final moisture level in the food.
