Frequently asked questions
i have lost/damaged my car's factory remote. how do i disarm the alarm?
You can use the PIN code for emergency disarm. Follow the instructions in this
manual. Please note that if your car has a factory immobiliser the car may still not
start. In this instance contact a locksmith.
my alarm chirps three times when i arm it instead of the usual one chirp?
A door, bonnet or boot is open. Disarm the system, correct the problem and start again.
i get three chirps when i disarm the alarm instead of the usual two chirps?
The system has been triggered while you were away from the vehicle. See your AVS
installer if you would like a diagnosis of what has triggered the alarm as this can be
retrieved from the system's memory.
i disarmed the system a few minutes ago but now it is armed again?
The system will automatically rearm if you disarm the alarm but do not open a door
or boot within 30 seconds. This can be programmed off by your AVS installer.
i have lost/broken my car's remote, can i use an Avs remote to operate
the alarm?
Most vehicles will be compatible with the AVS CAN remote. Ask your installer.
can i add an Avs remote as a spare remote for my Avs cAn-bus alarm?
Yes, in most cases your vehicle will be compatible with the AVS CAN remote.
Ask your installer.
the system disarms and the dash lights are working but the car won't start?
there is a clicking sound when i try to turn the car over to start?
It is likely the car battery is flat. The system draws such a small amount of power
it can be armed and disarmed (just like you can still see the dash lights) but the
car does not have enough power to start. You will need to replace or recharge
the car battery.
note: If jump starting the car please use protected jumper leads as failure to
do so can do irreparable damage to the alarm system (and your car's computer
system) and will void your car alarm warranty.
i'm worried the alarm will drain the car battery?
The system has been designed to draw as small an amount of current from your car
battery as possible. As long as the car's battery is in good condition the system should
not adversely affect most car's batteries if left unattended up to about three weeks.
