MAINTENANCE
ADDING OIL / LUBRICATION
1.
Set porta power jack in a vertical position with hose pointed downwards.
2.
Remove oil plug on jack and fill with good grade hydraulic oil to lower rim. Purge system of air as described
previously.
3.
Reinstall oil plug.
4.
Regulary lubricate all external and moving parts of porta power jack.
REPLACING OIL
For best performance and longest life, replace the complete fluid supply at least once per year. Always use a good
grade hydraulic jack oil.
1.
To drain oil, remove oil plug and open release valve. Turn porta jack over and drain old oil through the oil
filler hole.
Note: Dispose of hydraulic oil in accordance with local regulations.
2.
Fill with good grade hydraulic jack oil to the top of the filling cap.
3.
Do not allow dirt or foreign material to enter the hydraulic system when filling.
4.
After refilling remove any air from hydraulic system by opening the release valve and rapidly pumping the
jack handle several times.
5.
Re-install oil filler plug and the jack is ready to use.
PURGING AIR FROM HYDRAULIC SYSTEM / BLEEDING*
During transit, the jack's hydraulic system may become filled with air, causing a spongy ram action.
The air should be purged from the system before operating:
1.
Open release valve, then remove oil plug.
2.
Rapidly pump the handle several times to purge air from the hydraulic system
3.
Close release valve, replace oil plug. Porta power jack should now operate normally. If not, repeat purging
procedures as needed.
*means that the jack begins to slowly lower rather than keep load at height
When the jack is not in use, keep the piston fully retracted, leave ram all the way down. Store the porta power jack
in a well protected area where it will not be exposed to corrosive vapors, abrasive dust, or any other harmful elements.
Clean as needed with a lint free, oil saturated cloth.
