Sat-Nav:
We have already seen how accurate the One X can be when using its very impressive
GPS antenna. This is backed up even more so when used with Google Maps, which
comes as standard with all Android Smart Phones.
As you can see in the magnified image, there is a tiny blue circle near the centre of the
location Arrowhead. This gives you a visual indication of the GPS accuracy as you are
driving along.
Previous Android phones would commonly see this arrowhead jump from the road and
appear to be in the middle of a field. This was very annoying when approaching a junction
and not knowing which direction to take. Also many other Android phones suffered from
quite lengthy delays in map updating due to the high workload needed to generate a real
time moving map.
The HTC One X takes all this in its stride. Not only does it produce the same level of
accuracy as some top name dedicated Sat-Nav devices but it doesn't suffer any of the delay
or slow down problems of earlier phones. This is all thanks to the amazing 1.5 GHz Quad
core Processor and 1Gb of Ram.
My journey was an hour in duration; at no point did it feel like I was using an inferior Sat-Nav
device. In fact with the large 4.7" screen it was very quick for me to spot where I was on the
screen, meaning I spent less time with my eyes off the road.
The super quick Browsing capability of the One X meant that finding my destination was not
a chore and in fact it was comparable to using a pre-loaded very expensive Sat-Nav.
