What is Dolby Pro
Logic Surround ?
New Dolby Surround standard
Dolby Surround is basically a home theater
audio system. Dolby Pro Logic Surround is
a new standard from Dolby Laboratories
Licensing Corporation. It improves sound
image by using four separate channels: off-
screen audio effects, on -screen dialogue,
left-to-right panning, and music.
This provides greatly improved directional
accuracy, especially in the case of movie
sound effects. You can feel as if you were
in the scene. The Dolby Pro Logic
Surround can be set to the one of three
modes depending on the arrangement of
your speaker system: NORMAL, 3CH
LOGIC and PHANTOM.
The low bass
sound will come out from the left and right
front speakers.
We thank Dolby Laboratories Licensing
Corporation for its unique directionality
emphasis circuitry.
What is Pro Logic?
Pro Logic is a form of playback system. It
uses professional decoder technology for
movie creators to re-create the sound field
of a two-channel Dolby Surround signal.
Dolby Pro Logic Surround
Modes
You can select one of the following three
modes, depending on the arrangement of
your speaker system. After deciding the
Pro Logic mode, select the same one in
"Adjusting the Sound Level of Speakers".
NORMAL mode
Select this mode when using rear speakers
and a small center speaker such as those
provided with this system. Since a small
speaker cannot reproduce a full bass sound,
the low bass sound on the center channel is
output through the front left and right
speakers.
