3.9.4. Fitting the Coaxial Flue (Ø 60/100 Vertical)

IMPORTANT!!

The vertical starter with integral ﬂ ue gas analysis point

supplied with the ﬂ ue kit must be used when terminating the

ﬂ ue vertically.

The vertical ﬂ ue kit is supplied with a specially designed

weather proof terminal ﬁ tted, it can be used with a ﬂ at or

pitched roof. The vertical ﬂ ue useable length with the pitched

roof ﬂ ashing are indicated in Fig. 5

Before proceeding to ﬁ t the ﬂ ue, ensure that the maximum

ﬂ ue length has not been exceeded (See 3.9.3 Page 18);

Mark the position of the ﬂ ue in the ceiling and/or roof (see ﬁ g.

5 for distance from wall to the centre of the ﬂ ue), cut a hole

through the ceiling and/or roof and ﬁ t the ﬂ ashing plate to the

roof;

: DO NOT cut the vertical ﬂ ue kit

OTE

To connect the vertical ﬂ ue kit to the boiler, ﬁ rst the vertical

starter with integrated ﬂ ue gas analysis test point must be

push ﬁ tted onto the exhaust manifold and secured using the

ﬂ ue clamp and ﬂ ue clamp seal;

The vertical ﬂ ue then passes through the ﬂ ashing plate and

push ﬁ ts into the vertical adaptor.

: Pay attention not to dislodge the lip seals in the vertical

starter when engaging it onto the appliance and when inserting

the vertical ﬂ ue kit.

Should extensions be required they are available in 1 metre

lengths.

The vertical starter must always be connected

directly to the appliance and the extensions installed between

it and the vertical ﬂ ue kit.

In the event that an extension piece needs to be shortened it

must always be cut at the male end and it must be ensured

that the inner ﬂ ue and outer ﬂ ue remain at the same length.

: When cutting the ﬂ ue ensure that it is cut squarely and

that all burrs are removed to ensure that when the ﬂ ue is

assembled the lip seals are not damaged upon insertion.

When utilising the vertical ﬂ ue system, the ﬂ ue must be

adequately supported to prevent the weight of the ﬂ ue being

transferred to the appliance ﬂ ue connection by using 1 ﬂ ue

bracket per extension.

When the ﬂ ue passes through a ceiling or wooden ﬂ oor, there

must be an air gap between any part of the ﬂ ue system and any

combustible material. The use of a ceiling plate will facilitate

this. As well as this, where a ﬂ ue passes from one room to

another a ﬁ re stop must be ﬁ tted to prevent the passage of

smoke or ﬁ re, irrespective of the structural material through

which the ﬂ ue passes.
