TROUBLE SHOOTING
Trouble
Noisly operation
Excessive drill wobble.
Motor won't start.
Drill burns or smokes.
Table diffi cult to raise.
Probable cause
Incorrect belt tension.
Dry spindle.
Lose belt or pulley
Bad bearing
Bent drill.
Badly installed or loose chuck.
Badly installed drill.
Worn spindle shaft or bearing.
Power supply.
Motor connection.
Switch connections.
Motor winding burned.
Bad switch.
Incorrect speed (slow down RPM).
Chips are not discharging.
Dull drill or not cut properly.
Feeding too slow.
Needs lubrication.
Feed pressure wrong.
Bad lubrication.
Bent rack.
Table lock tightened.
Solution
Adjust tension.
Remove spindle/quill assembly and lubricate.
Tighten pulley or adjust belt tension.
Replace bearing.
Replace drill.
Install the chuck correctly. Thighten by
pressing chuck down against table.
Insert the drill correctly.
Replace spindle shaft or bearing.
Check power cord.
Check motor connection.
Check switch connections.
Replace motors.
Change switch.
Refer to speed chart.
Clean drill.
Check sharpness and taper, change drill.
Adjust the feeding.
Use lubrication while drilling.
Apply less pressure.
Lubricate with light oil.
Straighten rack.
Loosen clamp.
