IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS:
When using an electrical appliance, basic precautions should
always be followed, including the following:
READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE USING
• Close supervision is necessary when this appliance is used by, on or near children,
invalids or disabled persons.
• Use this appliance only for its intended use as described in this manual. Do not use
attachments not recommended by HoMedics; specifically any attachments not provided
with the unit.
• Do not place or store appliance where it can fall or be dropped into a tub or sink.
• Do not place or drop into water or any other liquid.
• This unit should not be used by children without adult supervision.
• Turn off appliance when not in use.
• Never operate this appliance if it has been damaged or if it is not working properly.
Return it to the HoMedics Service Center for examination and repair.
• Keep away from heated surfaces.
• This product is a non-professional appliance designed to provide soothing massage to
worn muscles. Do not use this product as a substitute for medical attention.
• This appliance is designed for household use only.

Caution: Please read all instructions carefully before operating.
• If you have concerns regarding your health, consult your doctor before using this product.
• Individuals with pacemakers should consult a doctor before use.
• Those with the following conditions should consult their doctor before using this product:
Pregnancy, Diabetes, Heart Disease, Malignant Tumor, Conditions requiring rest
• If at any time soreness, rash or an increase in pain occurs, discontinue use and consult
your physician.
• NEVER use this product directly on swollen or inflamed areas, skin eruptions or an
open wound.
• A massage session longer than 15 minutes is not recommended.
Battery Precautions
• Use only the size and type of batteries specified.
• When installing batteries, observe proper +/- polarities. Incorrect installation of batteries
may cause damage to the unit.
• Do not mix different types of batteries together (e.g., alkaline with carbon-zinc or old

batteries with new ones).
• If the unit is not going to be used for a long period of time, remove batteries to
prevent damage due to possible battery leakage.
Battery Installation
For Neck (SQM-N1) and Back (SQM-B1) Unit
1. Using a small coin, open the battery compartment by turning the cap 1/4 turn to
the right. Remove the cap.
2. Place 2 "C" alkaline batteries into the compartment with negative "-" side
down, positive "+" post facing out (Proper battery orientation is also noted
inside the battery compartment housing).
3. Replace the cap and using the small coin, turn it to the left 1/4 turn to close.
Caution: All servicing of this massager must be per-
formed by authorized Service Personnel only.
For Foot (SQM-F1) Unit
1. Unzip the zipper on the base of the unit. Fold back the cover to expose the bat-
tery compartment.
2. Open the compartment and place 4 "AA" alkaline batteries as noted on the bot-
tom of the battery compartment.
3. Replace the battery compartment lid and close the zipper.
Instructions for Use
1. Massage may be activated by moving the power switch to the
position marked as "I" or "II".
2. To turn off the massage, simply flip the switch back to "o" position.
NOTE: This unit can be used with or without massage at anytime.
Maintenance
TO CLEAN:
Clean only with a soft, slightly damp cloth. Never allow water or any other liquids
to come into contact with the unit.
• Do not immerse in any liquid to clean. To clean the fabric cover, wipe with damp
sponge, using a mild liquid detergent or suds. Wipe surface with a clean, dry
cloth.
• Never use abrasive cleaners, brushes, gasoline, kerosene, glass/furniture polish
or paint thinner to clean the massager.
• Do not attempt to repair this unit. There are no user serviceable parts. For ser-
vice, send the unit to the HoMedics address listed in the warranty section.
