Background Music (BGM)
If you wish to play BGM, you must con-
nect a background music source. This can
be a CD, Tuner etc and is connected to the
"Background Music In" RCA sockets on
the rear of the Master Switching Unit .
Each zone requiring background music
must be switched ON from the "Zone
BGM Selector" switches on the front panel
of the Master Switching Unit.
Each zone output is a low impedance bal-
anced signal suitable for feeding directly
into a power amplifier of suitable power
rating.
As the signal is balanced, the amplifier can
be remotely located with the use of a
shielded 2 core audio lead. This enables
the amplifier to be located up to 100m
from the switch box.
Pre-installation Power Up
Prior to installing the unit in it's perma-
nent location it is important to carry out
some preliminary tests.
Connect power to the Master Unit. Ensure
all paging stations are plugged in. Switch
on at the Master Switching Unit. Power for
the paging stations comes from the Master
Switching Unit. Ensure all zone amplifiers
are switched ON.
Set amplifier volumes to 1/2. Make sure
the background music source is on.
Background music should be heard in all

memory to store up to 16 different groups
of zones. Each station in the system can be
individually programmed to suit the oper-
ators requirements.

Switched 24V Output. For the operation
of fire evacuation override relays in atten-

vided. This is referred to as "external relay
out" on the rear panel.
This is activated every time a zone is
paged to provide 24VDC output from the
external relay. The unit is factory set to
"fail safe" mode for the external relay.
