Operating signal converter SITU with 1–10 V interface
General information
The SITU is a system component of the SI building management system and can also
be used for system-independent control functions. The SITU is used as an electronic
potentiometer for controlling electronic ballasts and dimmers fitted with a 1–10 V
interface.
Control function
The switch inputs of the SITU are controlled with pulses from the operating voltage
on inputs A1, A3 or A4. If continuous voltage is applied to one of these inputs, e.g.
because of a fault in a command device, the inputs can be controlled via the rest of
the inputs.
SITU control inputs
Control input: memory on
Input A1 is controlled by the "memory on" switch position,
i.e. the voltage on the 1–10 V interface applies the last saved
value and the load relay is switched on.
A1
Control output: on/off
The on/off status of the relay is indicated by an integrated
LED. An external switch position indicator can be connected
using the output signal on the combined control output/
input A1.
Control input: memory on/off/smooth adjustment
A short key pulse (> 60 ms) at input A2 applies the "memory
on/off" function, while a longer control pulse (> 600 ms)
changes the control voltage to the 1–10 V interface. The
change is effected in a sloping characteristic curve, i.e.
increasing/decreasing smooth adjustment to the maximum/
minimum value and vice versa. The cycle time is approx.
A2
3.5 seconds. The last set value is saved when a switch-off
pulse is engaged and can be recalled again later with switch-
on pulses at input A1 or A2 (memory function). Smooth
adjustment alternates between increasing and decreasing
values (changes direction) every time the command device is
engaged. The relay output is switched on or off with the on/
off function.
Control input: central off
A3
The "central off" switch position sends a control pulse to
input A3 and the load relay is switched off.
Control input: central on
When a pulse is sent to input A4, the "central on" function is
A4
activated, i.e. the voltage on the 1–10 V interface applies the
maximum value (10 V) and the load relay is switched on.
Mounting
Installation of the device may only be carried out by an authorised, trained techni-
cian. Snap onto DIN rail.
Observe the operating and installation instructions provided by the electronic bal-
last manufacturer, especially those regarding the connection assignment, line crite-
ria and PE conductor connection required for the electronic ballast. If more than one
electronic ballast is used, only use EBs from the same manufacturer, of the same type
and with the same output, in order to prevent differences in brightness.
Requirements for command devices
Any device with outputs that function as on/off switches on 24 V DC are suitable for
use as command devices. The following criteria must be met:
1. The bounce time when the contact closes must not exceed 10 ms.
2. The maximum contact resistance depends on the number of the SI components to
be controlled simultaneously: Rmax = 1 kΩ/n (Rmax = max. contact resistance of
command device, n = number of inputs to be controlled simultaneously).
Conventional switches with mechanical contacts generally meet this criterion. How-
ever, special attention must be given to command devices concerning the resistance
of the semiconductor or residual voltage.
Guarantee
All professionally installed, unaltered devices are covered by warranty during the
statutory guarantee period from the day of purchase by the end user. The guaran-
tee is not applicable to damage incurred during transport or caused by short-circuit,
overloading or improper use. In the event of defects in workmanship or material,
which are discovered within the guarantee period, the company will provide a repair
or replacement free of charge. The guarantee will be rendered null and void if the
device is opened without authorization.
