ASK Proxima M1 (DP1200x) Projector
Frequently Asked Questions: Connections
How do I connect the laptop to the projector?
There are two ways to connect your laptop to the M1:
•
Use the M1 cable that comes with the projector. Connect the M1 end of the cable to the M1-DA port on the projector.
Plug the other end into the Monitor (VESA) connector on the laptop.
•
Use the LiteShow wireless solution. LiteShow eliminates the need for a cable connecting the M1 and the laptop. Click
here for more information about LiteShow.
NOTE
If you want to control the computer mouse with the remote, you will need to purchase a conference room
"Conductor" remote.
How do I connect the projector in a country with different power standards? Does the projector have an internal
voltage converter?
InFocus projectors have a built in Universal Power Supply which automatically accommodates input voltages between
100VAC and 240VAC and frequencies between 50 Hz and 60 Hz. This will allow you to use the projector in any part of the
world. But you will need the correct power cable or adapter. Visit the InFocus Accessories Store to purchase power cables for
use in other countries.
How do I connect a video source to the M1?
The M1 is capable showing broadcast images, as long as you can connect the projector to a cable/satellite/Direct TV
converter box or a video player that is hooked up to a broadcast source. These boxes allow you plug in composite and/or S-
video cables. You can also connect the M1 to video sources such as DVDs, VCRs and game consoles. For a more complete
explanation of what signals the M1 can accept and what cables are required, see the Video Image FAQs.
My computer wants to install device drivers when I connect the projector. What should I do?
Windows will ask you to install USB drivers only if your computer runs Windows 98. For computers running Windows ME,
2000 or XP, the drivers are automatically installed.
In Windows 98:
•
The first time you connect a projector to a computer, the computer recognizes the projector as "new hardware" and
the Add New Hardware Wizard appears.
•
The Hardware Wizard appears when you plug the USB cable into a computer.
•
You plug the USB cable into the computer when you want keyboard "Page Up" and "Page Down" capability (which
allows you to advance PowerPoint slides), or when you upgrade the projector's system software. When you plug the
cable in, the computer recognizes the M1 as 'new hardware', and the New Hardware Wizard appears.
How do I connect the M1 to a desktop computer?
First, unplug the existing monitor from the desktop. Then plug the M1 cable that comes with the M1 into the projector's M1-
DA port and the computer's monitor port.
