Getting to Know Your Roly-Poly

Getting started, stay with slower speeds and feel free to keep the yarn

going lightly through your hand. This way you are adding a little bit

of "hand tension" and monitoring the apparent density of the ball.

This is a good way to become familiar with the range of tension and

ball densities until you get the results you want. At any point you can

simply turn up the speed a bit, and the extra drag from the added

speed will allow you to let go of the yarn. You'll still have the same

tension, but you can sit back and relax.

Once you're comfortable and find yourself zipping along at warp

speed, just be careful about the skein snagging up on your swift. Keep

your hand on or near the toggle switch so you can quickly power off in

case of a snag. Be sure to turn the speed knob all the way off, so you

can resume slowly after clearing your snag.
