Fault finding
WARNING
Maintenance must be done only by suitable qualified and competent persons.
Symptom
Ground rod driver fails to operate.
LGRD lacks striking power.
LGRD runs slow
LGRD runs hot.
Any unauthorized use or copying of the contents or any part thereof is prohibited. This applies in particular to trademarks, model
denominations, part numbers and drawings.

Possible fault
No flow from supply.
Hoses incorrectly fitted.
Main spool jammed or damaged.
Striker piston seized
Insufficient available pressure.
Low accumulator gas pressure
(Normally associated with violent
shaking of hoses).
Stopping bush in nose casting loose.
Insufficient flow
Cold oil.
High return line back pressure.
Incorrect oil
Q.R. coupling defect
Inadequate cooling of hydraulic oil.
Remedy
Check output with flow and
pressure tester.
Check that pressure feed is
connected to P port on the LGRD.
Remove and check.
Clean all associated parts.
Remove and check for 'pick-up'
on piston feeder or barrel.
Replace any damaged parts.
Check Main Relief Valve.
Re-charge the accumulator – refer to
Service Manual.
Apply Loctite 648 and press back.
Check that the flow rate is correct.
Warm up the oil supply.
Optimum temperature 30–70°C
(86–158°F).
Check return line back-pressure.
Pressure should not exceed 10 bar.
Use only Hydraulic Oil according to
spec.
Locate and replace defect coupling.
Check oil supply has adequate
cooling. Temperature should not
