INSPECTIONS BEFORE STARTING ENGINE

Fuelÿ 2-cycle engineÿ
Use regular car gasoline mixed with special 2-cycle engine oil as fuel.
Mixing ratio (volume ratio)
Gasoline: special 2-cycle engine oil (JASO FE Class)
0û Do not use old or contaminated fuel (smells acidic) or fuel with a different mixing ratio.
(This will cause engine trouble when starting or low output power).
0û If the fuel spilt, be sure to wipe it up. If not, it might stain clothing or cause injury.
0û Do not use 4-cycle engine oil. (It may result in a damaged plug, piston right adhesion or clogged
muffler).
Caution
0û Use gasoline paying special attention to damage from explosion or fire.

STARTING/STOPPING ENGINE

Observe the applicable accident prevention
regulations!
Starting
Move at least 3m away from the place of refueling
and place the bush cutter on clean ground. Take care
that the cutting tool does not come into contact with
the ground or any other objects.
Cold start
0ûPush the I-O switch $` in the direction shown by
the arrow.
0ûGrasp the handle (hand pressure activates the
safety lock-off lever $b).
0ûPress the control lever $c and hold it down.
0ûPress the lock button $a and release the control
lever, and then release the lock button (the lock
button holds the control lever in the start –up position)
Caution
Keep people 15m or more away from the operator when
Starting the engine.
Do not use the machine near flammable materials
(gasoline or volatile chemicals)
After refueling, start the engine 3m away from
the refueling place.
Stopping
0ûFully release the control lever $c. When the engine
r.p.m. has reduced to idle, push the I-O switch $` to
position "O" and the engine will stop.
Caution
If the machine is not in use (e.g. a rest break
during summer), place the engine horizontally. (If
the gas cap is covered with fuel, the fuel might
leak.)
Do not touch the engine, particularly the muffler,
during operation or right after stopping. (Touching
might cause a burn).

INSPECTION AND MAINTENANCE

Inspections and maintenance before each use.
1) Cleaning the air cleaner.
Clean the element with white kerosene. Then soak
it in engine oil and squeeze it firmly with one hand.
Caution: Flammable
2) Cleaning and inspections of each part
ÿe C lean the section around the muffler.
ÿe C lean the cooling fin and suction hole for cooling.
ÿe I nspect each nut and bolt and tighten them.
ÿe C heck that there are no fuel leaks.
Inspections / maintenance every 50 hours.
1) Cleaning and adjustment of the spark plug.
After cleaning the end of the plug, adjust the electrode
clearance to 0.6-0.7mm (three government post cards'
thickness).
Securely insert the plug cap when assembling.
2) Lubrication of the gear case
Remove the lubrication bolt on the side of the gear
case and lubricate the inner surface with grease.
ÿe The engine revolutions were optimized when
shipping from the factory.
In the event of engine trouble, only adjust the
revolutions in accordance
With the instruction manual for the engine.
ÿe Be sure to read the instruction manual section for engine
inspections/maintenance.
NOTES FOR INSPECTIONS
Disconnect the wires of the spark plug before inspections or maintenance to prevent an unexpected start.
Do not touch the engine right after stopping the engine, because it is hot.
Never put fire or other neat sources near the machine when handling fuel.
If fuel spills, wipe it up thoroughly before using the machine.
Do not wash the brush cutter with water.
Factory revolution speed is preset and should not be changed unless specified in the manual.
